September's Birth Flower: The Meaning Behind the Aster

If your birthday's in September, your flower is the aster — and it's one of my favourites to paint. 🌸
The name "aster" comes from the Greek word for star, and once you see one up close, it makes total sense — those thin, pointed petals really do fan out like a little starburst. Asters symbolize wisdom, faith, and love, and they were once believed to have magical powers strong enough to ward off evil spirits. A little September flower doing a lot of work! 😄
I paint each aster mug by hand, petal by petal, in soft purples and blues that always remind me of early autumn — that first cool morning when summer starts to fade but the garden is still holding on.
